“Warriors of Light” Vocal/Piano Sheet Music

Composed: 1995, Las Vegas, NV

The Story: In the summer of 1995, I received a letter from a friend in Idaho. She told me about the theme to her Girls Camp, which was called 'Warriors of Light'. I remember thinking, 'That sounds like a great title to a church song' .

I sat at the piano, trying to come up with something. My mom came into the room, wanting to vacuum. I went in another room, laid on the floor, and began to write some verses that rhymed. This was the first and only time I had ever written the words first before the melody for a song.

I went back to the piano, looked at my paper, and made up a melody for the verses. I then began to play a chorus melody, quickly finding a soprano and alto part. It just flowed out so fast.

This was the first song I wrote that was of a spiritual nature. It opened the floodgates for more church songs to come.

The Message:

"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

Romans 13:12

This is an anthem for the youth of today. Living in the world is rough. There is temptation all around, and we must put on our amour and protect ourselves from the adversary. Light is brighter than darkness, and will conquer over evil. There is no need to fear when you remember to live strong and stand bright, for you are a warrior of light.
